    Notes by MHL

Charles grave is in Ohio. He was killed in a coal mine accident. Grandma (Frances) was about 3 years old when he died. Died Nov. 22, 1889. His real name should be Coffman. The Coffman was killed in the Civil War before they could be married. My grandmother gave me the date 1889 but, I found where he was a witness to the marriage on Aug. 28, 1890 between John W. Hoschar and Martha Rhodes, which is more than likely correct. If he had died in 1889 Elizabeth would not have been born and my grandmother said Aunt Lizzie was 2 months old when her father was killed in the accident, so I am going to use the date 1890. My grandmother was about 80 when she gave me this information.
Died of Pneumonia in Nelsonville, OH. The story was told he had a cold and went to an auction and it was raining he got wet and took pneumonia. (My aunt told me this and Charlie Fultz also said the same thing.) He worked in a coal mine. My grandmother told me he was killed in a coal mine accident.??? Grandma was passed 80 when she told me this.
