Lawrence (Bunk) Hughes - I remember seeing this car as a young girl. 1947 Chevy Coupe I believe. This car actually belonged to Uncle Cliff but Bunk was the one who drove it according to my brother Sonny. The picture was taken at the Hughes-Miller Homeplace. This was the most popular car for young men on Route 87. It was affordable. My grandkids would say it was a "chick magnet".
Lawrence Hughes
Lawrence (Bunk) Hughes - When Bunk died all of the Musicians of my days growing up on Route 87 have passed on. (Wilbur Donohew, Butch Sayre, Lowell Hood and many more)
Music was as much a part of Bunk as breathing. My earliest memory of him is sitting on the front porch, with a guitar picking "The Wildwood Flower". "The Wildwood Flower" seemed to be the first tune everyone learned to play followed closely by "The Maple On The Hill".
