| This is the "Old Pine Grove Church" This is the "Old Pine Grove Church". This church has had connections to the people on Rte 87 for generations. This church burned to the ground and was replaced by a New Pine Grove Church. The new church is really nice but it lacks the things in the past. The feeling that there some of the old folks still lingering around is missing from the new church. A few more generations in the new church will have a feeling of history. |

| West Virginia Route 87 WV Route 87 about quarter of a mile west of Jackson/Mason County Line. This property has been owned by John Miller(my Great Grandfather) and later by my Uncle Cliff and and Aunt Zina Miller Hughes and their heirs for over a hundred years or longer. Aunt Zina's son lives on the property now.
At one time there was a saw-mill and a threshing machine located on the property.
This property is often referred to as Gobblers Knob. This was a name my Uncle Samuel Miller gave it when he lived on the property in the sixties and seventies.
On the back side of the property behind the barn was the pond John Miller II used to run his steam treshing machine. The the threshing machine is now located at the Farm Musem in Point Pleasant, WV.
The drive way to the property has changed and the old log house was burned to the ground but my memories of the place linger on. |

That's all I know in that picture. The rest are children.(This is my favorite picture of them)

| Wood Wood Family Reunion 1928 - 1928 Reunion Photo. I guessed the year by the age my uncle appears to be in the photo. Mary Catherine is kinda in the center of the picture (mother is written over her black sweater), her son Theodore Roosevelt Wood has Ted across him, her son Oville Thomas aka O T or Ote is in the back row. My Grandmother Verta Belle Balch Wood has a scarf on her head and holding a baby, the baby is my Uncle Kenneth Wood Jr.(Verta and Kenneth is written on them), Stina Wood is to the right of my grandmother Verta.
They lived on what is now Dunham Road on the way to Pine Grove Cemetery.

| WV Route 87 The road to the left in the picture is now called Spruce Run Road and the road to the right is the Middle Fork of Cow Run. The homestead shown in the picture belonged to Charles and Mamie Miller Donohew.
This road would lead many of us to Columbus, Cincinnati, Charleston and the world beyond, for others it was a way back to a life they had left behind.
