- Hollie Forrest Sawyer
SPENCER - Hollie Forrest Sawyer, 98, of Spencer, W.Va., died April 5, 2004, at Charleston Area Medical Center's General Hospital, Charleston.
He was born March 23, 1906, in Jackson County, W.Va., a son of the late Albert and Fannie Jane Brown Sawyer. He was a retired carpenter, a lifetime member of IOOF Campbell Lodge No. 101, Spencer, and a member of the Spencer Tabernacle. He also worked for a while at Luxaire Manufacturing Co. in Elyria, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife, Wanneda Coe Harper Sawyer; three daughters, Mary Young of Leroy, W.Va., Violet Elrod of North Ridgeville, Ohio, and Erma Rigsby of Elyria; two sons, James Sawyer of Tampa, Fla., and Earl Sawyer of Elyria; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and eleven great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Minnie Lesher Sawyer.
Service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Leon Strickland officiating. Burial will be in the Eventide Cemetery, Spencer.
Visiting hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
