- Son of David Wesley Sayre Sr & Minerva Stone.
He was mustered in 30 July 1861 as a musician in Co. 4th West Virgina Volunteer Infantry , and later transferred to Co. C, 2nd West Virginia Veteran Infantry. He married on 10 June 1863, Ruamia (?Ruamy?) Hunt who was born in February 1846 to Abijah and Mary Jane (Hughes) Hunt. (Photo, page 257, Jackson County, West Virginia, Past And Present 1990). He continued with Civil War service until 18 July 1865, mustering out as private. Daniel and Ruamia lived five miles from Cottageville, Jackson County, in the Cow Run Area. He was a farmer and saw mill worker. He died in 1920. Ruamy died in 1939. Burial was in the David Sayre family cemetery, Cow Run (County Route 5/3), Jackson, West Virginia.

8. Grover Cleveland (?Clive?) Sayre, born 10 May 1884; married Mariah Elizabeth (?Lizzie?) Fultz, who was born 27 September 1890 and died 23 October 1973 [another source said 15 October 1973]. She had a son, Charlie Fultz. She was buried in Cherry Grove Cemetery. At one time, ?Clive? possessed a hammer and horse-shoeing hammer believed to be part of the black-smithing tools used by ancestor Daniel Sayre when he served in the French and Indian War, Braddock?s expedition. He died 15 November 1973 at his home. He was buried in the Sayre Cemetery.
9. Hannah Elizabeth Sayre, born in Mason County, 26 March 1887; married at Cottageville, Jackson, West Virginia, Andrew H. Ankrum who preceded her in death. They lived in Columbus, Franklin, Ohio. She died 6 August 1975. Burial was in Sunset Cemetery, Galloway, Franklin, Ohio, USA.
