Clyde Dewitt Vannest
Clyde Dewitt Vannest, 75, of Rt. 1, Ravenswood, died Saturday morning at Jackson General Hospital after a long illness.
He was born May 16, 1906, at Gay, the son of the late John and Goldie Donavon Vannest.
He was a farmer, retired construction worker and a member of the AFL-CIO labor union, He was an active member of the Pleasant View United Methodist Church where he served as superintendent of the Sunday School and in many other capacities for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Ball Vannest; daughter, Mrs. William (Betty) Ables of Ravenswood; sons, Roy and Joe, both of Ravenswood; broth er Clair of Ravenswood; sisters, Mrs, Ora Haas of Millwood; Mrs Ortha Stalnaker Brown of Sabina, Ohio; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildr en.
He was preceded in death by a son Ray, a grandson, Randy, and a brother, Curtis.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Pleasant View United Met ho dist Church, Friends may call at the Casto Funeral Home, Evans, aft er 4 p. m. Sunday.
