- Armor Dale Sayre of Evans passed March 9, 2011 in St. Joseph Hospital, Parkersburg.
He was born March 28, 1928, a son of the late, Rev. Armor Ray (Jack) and Verda Marie Casto Sayre. His wife Dottie Lou (Crihfield) Sayre, and a brother, Gale Sayre also preceded him in death.
He was a retired United States Air Force veteran and served during the Vietnam War era. He was also a carpenter, and a retired emergency room clerk from Jackson General Hospital, Ripley. He enjoyed woodworking, collecting coins, gardening. He most recently attended the Hickory Grove Church, Kenna.
Survivors include his sons, Alan Sayre of Clendenin, Armor Dale Sayre, Jr., Evans, daughters Theresa Christy of Apple Grove, Vanesa McClung of Ravenswood, stepson, Lennie "Buck" Williams of Oak Hill; 12 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
Service were held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV with the Rev. Herman Robinson officiating. Burial followed in Longview Cemetery, Evans, with military honors by American Legion 107, Ripley. Visitation was one hour prior to time of service.
