- CARTER Zella L. Carter, age 76, of West Jefferson, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2010 in Arbors West Care Center, West Jefferson, surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 12, 1933 in Wilbur, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Monroe and Cynthia Ross Cordle. Zella was a member of the Brushy Fork, Kentucky United Baptist Church, West Jefferson Chapter #492 O.E.S. where she was Worthy Matron in 1994; she loved quilting and loved to cook, especially for her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who will be missed by all who knew her. Zella is survived by her husband, Gene, whom she married September 12, 1952 in Louisa, Kentucky; daughter, Linda (John) Stickel of London; son, Harold (Connie) Carter of Galloway; six grandchildren, Cynthia, Christina, Michelle, Pamela. Michael, and Tracy; three great- grandchildren, Mia, Reagan and Jack; three sisters, Neva (Frank) Walker of Sunbury, Rosemary (Jim) Devillers of Columbus, Ruby Price of Louisa, Kentucky; three brothers, Ernest (Nancy) Cordle of Sunbury, Bertell (Lois) Cordle of Rockbridge, Ronald (Wanda) Cordle of Louisa, Kentucky; several nieces, nephew, cousins and many friends, especially Willard and Ann Salyer and Ray and Carol Waller. Zella was preceded in death by her parents, a son Roger L. Carter (1997), a brother Russell Cordle and a sister Ella Jay Cook. Family and friends may call 4-8 p.m. Tuesday in the RADER-McDONALD FUNERAL HOME, West Jefferson, where O.E.S. Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral Service 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Rader-McDonald Funeral Home, West Jefferson with Rev. Glade May officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Galloway. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Madison County Relay For Life , P.O. Box 411, West Jefferson, Ohio 43162.
