- Larry Walter Matheny, 61, of Leon, went to be with his Lord suddenly Sep t. 1, 2007 as a result of a tractor accident on his family farm.
He was a school bus operator for the Mason County Board of Education, wi th 40 years of service. He was a member of Leon Baptist Church, where he served as devotional leader and deacon. He also was an avid horse enthusiast.
He was born Aug. 14, 1946 in Leon, a son of Julius Atmer and Edna Mae (Rollins) Matheny of Leon.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Emma (Casto) Rollins and John and Dora (Herdman) Matheny.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Tammy Sue (Snyder) Matheny; son, Justin (Bridgett) Matheny of Evans; brothers, Jerry (Judy) Matheny of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and Wesley Matheny and David Matheny, both of Le on; sisters, Charlotte (Earl) Walters of Gallipolis, Ohio, Judy ( Bob) Locke of Lucasville, Ohio, Becky (Larry) Peck of Leon and Julia (Rick) Higgi ns of Point Pleasant; uncle, Herbert Matheny of Leon; and many nieces and nephews.
Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5 at Leon Baptist Church with Pa st or Basil R. Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Church Ceme te ry in Leon. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Casto Funeral Home in Evans.
