  	Kenneth Lloyd Friend, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend, 85, of Mt. Alto, WV, passed away January 15, 2014, in Pleasant Valley Hospital, Pt. Pleasant, following an extended illness. He was born April 5, 1928, in Millwood, WV, a son of the late Roy J. and Bertha Isabelle (Pickens) Friend. His sisters, Ethel Mae Durst, and Beryl Miller, a brother, Robert Friend, and a grandson, Raymond Akers also preceded him in death. He was a retired construction worker and was a member of the Operating Engineers Union, Local #132, Charleston, WV. He enjoyed gardening, talking on the CB radio, and hunting, especially with his rabbit beagles. He was a Baptist by faith. Survivors include his wife, Oletha Dawna (Frame) Friend; daughters, Donna Surface of Mt. Alto, Stacy R. Freeman of Salemburg, NC, Juanita Fern Friend of Ripley, Nora Marie Orndorff of Thomas, Melissa Akers of Pt. Pleasant, Kathy Ann Friend of Davis, and Carol Pierce of Athens, OH, son, Kenneth R. “Bubby” Friend of Denver, CO; 14 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Service will be 1 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2014, at the Hopewell Baptist Church, Mt. Alto, with the Rev. Herman Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville. Visitation will be one hour prior to time of service. Arrangements are being provided by Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV.
